Lake Nasser

It is hard to appreciate that something so beautiful has been created by mankind!

Lake Nasser, the world’s largest artificial lake, was formed in the 1960s to control the annual floods of the River Nile by the awe inspiring construction of the Aswan High Dam. Remote desert surrounds Lake Nasser which covers the land of Nubia and is the site of many tombs, temples and churches.

Monuments were moved from their original site before the High Dam was constructed. They are grouped together in four locations; Kalabsha, Wadi-as-Subua, Amada and Abu Simbel where you will find the famous temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari. Visitors are given the opportunity to explore the ancient Nubian temples and monuments and appreciate serene desert vistas whilst cruising on Lake Nasser.

The Lake protects for all future generations these historical sites and cruising Lake Nasser affords visitors peace and tranquillity and a unique vantage point from which to explore these treasures.

The first thing we must praise are your representatives in Egypt. All of our guides especially Adel on the Nile Cruise went above and beyond the call of duty. He is a credit to your company and someone of whom you should take great pride in employing! John and Barbara North - 21st November 2012
