From the moment we landed in Luxor we were met by the friendliest, most willing and helpful ground staff. However, this first impression only improved with each passing day.
Aswan
Some say Aswan is the city where the Nile is at its most beautiful and forms the gateway to the African continent. Flowing gently around the granite rocks and emerald islands, the gentle waters of the Nile meet with the sand dunes as they sweep down. An assortment of shops and Arabic Coffee houses can be found as one strolls along the Corniche, a Nile promenade.
The scented aroma of spices entices you to visit the hustle and bustle of the souvenir shops in the best Souk (market) outside Cairo on Bazaar Street parallel to the Corniche; a true reminder of times past. Watch the spectacular sunset whilst taking tea on the terrace of the Old Cataract Hotel with a backdrop of Elephantine Island; pure magic, pure Egypt.
From its prestigious position on the Nile, there are many sights to encounter including a trip on a felucca to the exotic Botanical Gardens on Lord Kitchener Island, the engineering marvel of the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk. A favourite destination never to be forgotten with so much to offer, see and do.
